Our values

the hand stays the author.

typodojo is made by Pulp, a company whose work is helping people understand people. Many people are worried about AI, in type as everywhere else. Their questions are fair: whose hand made this, whose work taught the machine, and who profits. Here is where we stand.

    your hand is the author.

    Every font and every motion made here comes from strokes you drew. The tools help your hand; they do not replace it. The dojo is here to train more hands, not fewer.

    we never train typography models on your work.

    Your drawings, your fonts, your stroke data and the fonts you publish to the marketplace are never used to train generative typography models, ours or anyone else's. Making fonts for you is our business. Making a machine that makes fonts from yours is not, and never will be.

    motion you can read.

    When your font moves, it is playback, not generation: your letters redrawn in the order you drew them, at a pace you set. You can see why any letter moves the way it does, turn the effect off for any font, and every animation follows your reader's reduced-motion setting.

    watermarks protect you, not watch you.

    Pro watermarks are an invisible signature in your font files. They prove a font is yours and help you find unlicensed use. They identify your font, never the people using it, and typodojo never reports on the documents set in your type.

  1. Product use in aggregate and anonymized, to make the tools better.
  2. In the daily feed, counts per post and per edition: how many saw it, reacted, commented or tried it.
  3. Never used to train generative type models.
  4. Never sold.
  5. Your own practice results are kept for you, to suggest your next challenge. They are not tracked about you.
