The typing room
how do you type?
Type a short passage and see your speed, your accuracy, the letters you reach for, and the rhythm between your keys. That rhythm is as much yours as your handwriting. Nothing you type here leaves this device.

Why it matters
your rhythm is a signature.
The timing of your keys, how long you hold each one and how long you wait between them, is called keystroke dynamics. It is steady enough to tell one person from another, the way a hand is.
- Any page can time your keys.
A web page with a text box can see when each key goes down and comes up. No permission is asked, because none is needed.
- It is used to recognize people.
Some services use typing rhythm to check that the person typing is the person who owns the account, or to tell a person from a robot. Researchers have studied it for decades as a way to identify people.
- It can be dulled.
Pasting from a password manager, dictating, and typing on a phone all change the signal. Some browsers and extensions even out the timing on purpose.
- Here, it stays yours.
The typing room measures on this device to show you, and keeps only your best speed. No timing is stored or sent.
