Ranks and seals
earned, not bought.
Modes are the time you have. Ranks are what you have finished, and how long you have kept at it. They count in every mode, for members and committed members alike.
The ladder
nine ranks, one way up.
Moving past white belt takes the whole alphabet: capitals, lowercase, numbers and basic punctuation. Every rank after that adds something finished and days at the pen, so a rank cannot be rushed.
Seals of distinction
pressed beside the rank.
A seal marks one kind of excellence. Some come from your own craft; others from the people who use, buy, share and vouch for your fonts. A seal deepens with a ring at each count.
How ranks stay honest
no head start.
Practice is the rank. The belt only says so.
